February the start of the new school year for W

I decided to make February the start of the new school year since I get evaluations done in January.

W will start the new year with All About Spelling (AAS 1) step 17, All About Reading (AAR 2) lesson 7 continued, RightStart Mathematics level C (RGHT) lesson 45 continued, Essentials in Writing (EIW 4).

For Grammar we switched from First Language Lessons 3 to Essentials in Writing 4.

2/6/18.  W did AAS 1 step  17. Spelling words starting with c or k.  W was very frustrated.  He received 1/2 words wrong.  We corrected them and then went over the rules for c. (EIW4) lesson 1 Into to writing.  Noticing need to work on lower case h,a, and p.  He started with capitals and ended with punctuation marks.  Did well.

2/12/18.  W did AAS 1 Step 18. New phonograms: ck, ng, nk.  knew all but ng.  Key car 9 double f,s,l.  W did AAR 2 lesson 7 complete activity (spr, spl, scr) reviewed new words, 2 leap words do and her.  He already knew do.  RGHT lesson 45 continued.  did the worksheet on money.  Did very well.  EIW4. Lesson 2 day 1.  Complete subject and predicate.  He got 7 wrong but was able to correct verbally 6 out of the 7 wrong without me . I only had to let him know they were wrong.  We went over where the predicate starts after the correction were made.

2/13/18.  W did AAS 1 step 18. Spell on paper.  He forgot to double the f,s,l when spelling.  Also confused the e and i short sounds like he did when he was reading. AAR 2 lesson 7 fluency sheet.  Mastered the word do.  He completed the whole fluency sheet.  He did well once he calmed down.

2/14/18.  W did RGHT lesson 46. Worked on the first half.  Reading money on a calculator.  EIW4. Lesson 2 day 2.  did well.

2/16, 18, 19/18.  W did 3 lets go learn assessments.  Math, reading, and phonograms.  He did excellent with phonograms.  Over all he is right where he should be on Math with some like addition being ahead and some like measurements being below.  Going to do a new approach for reading.

2/27/18. AAS 1 combined spelling. He corrected his work before he finished the spelling list.  He got 6 wrong.  Mastered phomograms cards nk, ng and reviewed key cards 7,8,9.  Will do spelling again tommorrow to see if we can knock out the rest of the combined spelling.  EIW 4.  Disk did not work.  Went online and found a youtube on simple subject.  Went onto worksheet.  Was very frustrated for the 1st half.  Then we broke it down.  We 1st found the verb, then the complete subject and then the simple subject.

2/28/18. AAR 2 lesson 8 reviewed syllables and syllable tags.  Learned the words Ostrich and Bottom.  Read practice sheet for "An Elf in the Swiss Alps".  RGHT lesson 46 finished also did worksheet 26 money math with a calculator.
